The 1life Helpline operates from offices in Dublin, Kildare and Wexford.
The Helpline is dedicated to providing professional counselling, support, advice and referral service for people who may be feeling suicidal, engaging in self-harm or bereaved through suicide on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis.
Volunteers work alongside a team of trained counsellors and therapists all of whom receive Helpline training, supervision and operate to strict organisational policies, procedures and ethical guidelines.
Volunteers applying for the position of Helpline Volunteer submit an application form and CV and are then interviewed.
Successful candidates undergo Garda vetting and then commence training at 1life. Training is held in our Dublin offices and lasts approximately 12 weeks.
Applicants should have the following;
A personal, academic or professional interest/experience in suicide prevention.
Experience in Helpline counselling or a similar care-giving role.
Applications are particularly welcome from those who;
Hold a Diploma (or equivalent) in counselling or psychotherapy.
Are accredited/pre-accredited in the field of counselling or psychotherapy.
Have relevant counselling experience.
New volunteers will be asked to commit to taking a weekly four hour shift, and give a minimum of one years service to 1life.
